Welcome to the Disney Food Blog. If you enjoy this post, you should check out the tour of the site to see all the great Disney Food information we have.

It's time for another delicious Disney recipe! And this one is seriously a MUST-TRY for any cheese addicts out there.

When it comes to Eating Around the World, an awesome family destination is the Germany Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase. Their Biergarten Restaurant will trick you into thinking you've hopped a plane for Bavaria.

And a bounty of brand new delights await you if you haven't been to Sommerfest, their counter service spot, in a while.

One of my favorite dishes on the Biergarten buffet is the amazing Nudel Gratin. This is one of the best versions of macaroni and cheese that I've ever tasted in my life.

So when it popped up on the Sommerfest menu, we had to try it.

Nudel Gratin at Sommerfest

But even better — now, I can make it between trips to Walt Disney World, thanks to this recipe! I know what we're having for dinner tonight! :-)

Sommerfest and Biergarten Nudel Gratin

Serves 8 to 10

Ingredients:
2 cups heavy cream
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch ground white pepper
Pinch nutmeg
4 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded
4 ounces white cheddar cheese, shredded
1 pound cooked elbow macaroni

Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 375F. Spray a 16×9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

2. Combine cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a large bowl, whisking to combine. Toss cheeses together in a small bowl until combined; remove 1 cup cheese and set aside. Stir remaining cheeses into cream mixture.

3. Cook macaroni until just tender; drain and add cream mixture, stirring immediately. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish. Cover with foil.

4. Bake 30 minutes. Remove foil, and sprinkle reserved cheese over top of noodles. Bake 15 minutes longer.

5. Cool 10 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm.

Will you be cooking up Nudel Gratin to celebrate the cooler Fall temps? Leave a comment and let us know when you'll be making this yummo dish!

Recipe: Cranberry Scones Prefect for Teatime - 12 Tomatoes

Nov 05, 8:57PM

There are plenty of foods one might think of when English cuisine comes to mind: the pub fare fish and chips, savory yorkshire pudding, and the ever delicious scone. Despite what some might think, this treat isn't actually a pastry. It's more akin to a cake or a bread. It's also an absolute necessity during Devonshire tea (a tea assortment consisting of tea, scones, jam and cream typically served in the afternoons). Today we can find them in many cafes, but nothing tastes better than the homemade variety.

As with most breads and cakes there are many variations to the scone. They may include raisins, cheese, fruits, or even some regions, potatoes. For today's recipe we'll be adding cranberries to our scones for a delicious, tart flavor that will mix perfectly with a bit of clotted cream and jam. Scroll below for our recipe...

Cranberry Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup plus 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cold, unsalted butter cut into pieces
  • 1 1/4 cup fresh cranberries chopped coarse
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon zest (should be from about 2 lemons)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. In a food processor, pulse flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, and lemon zest until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Transfer to a large bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, toss cranberries and 3 tablespoons sugar, then stir into the flour mixture.
  4. In another small bowl, beat egg and egg yolk together, then stir in the cream.
  5. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir just until it's combined. Be careful to not overmix or you will end up with hard, tough scones.
  6. Flour a working surface, pat the dough out into a 1-inch thick round, and using a 2-inch round cookie cutter, cut out as many pieces as possible.
  7. Reroll the scraps and repeat until there is no more dough left.
  8. Shape the rounds into little triangles, then place 1 inch apart on the baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they just start to golden.
  9. Serve scones warm with clotted cream and jam. Whipped cream can also be used.
  10. Enjoy!
