Capcom has reported “sluggish financial results” for the financial year ended March 31, 2010.
Net sales decreased 27.3 percent to 66 837 million yen ($ 725m / £ 494.4m), while profits dived 73.1 percent to 2167 million yen ($ 23.5m / £ 16 million).
The company's flagship video game business, Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter Freedom Tri Unity "continues to grow in Japan", while the fifth Resident Evil and Street Fighter IV "healthy growth" in overseas markets.
Company cited "weak sales of several new titles" - MotoGP, Bionic Commando and Dark Void is among the releases during the period - and said that the delayed launch of Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV and Monster Hunter Tri (international version) for the year current fiscal "significantly depressed sales" compared to the previous 12 months.
Capcom said it expects "a sharp rebound" in the year ended March 31, 2011 on the back of the "big" game release. This full-year profit estimates 8000 million yen ($ 86.8m / £ 59.2m) on net sales of 95,000 million yen ($ 1b / £ 703m).
