Posted: 28 Dec 2013 12:03 AM PST

Bonefish Grill, 4651 W. Kenosha St., Broken Arrow, is offering a year-end promotion that features a free Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer with the purchase of two entrees.

Diners must go to Bonefish Grill's Facebook page to obtain the offer, good through Monday.

The restaurant also released its recipe for Winter White Chocolate Martini. The recipe calls for RumChata and Ghirardelli white chocolate syrup.

RumChata is available in most Tulsa liquor stores. It is a blend of five-time distilled Caribbean rums with Wisconsin dairy cream and flavored with cinnamon, vanilla and other "secret" flavors. If Ghirardelli is not available, any quality white chocolate syrup will work.

WINTER WHITE CHOCOLATE MARTINI

2 ounces RumChata

1 ounce white crème de cacao liqueur

1 ounce Ghirardelli white chocolate sauce

Sprinkle of fresh cinnamon

1 candy cane

Put RumChata, white crème de cacao and white chocolate sauce into a pint glass that is packed with ice. Shake vigorously 20 times and strain into frozen martini glass. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon and candy cane.

Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has called for innovative and out-of-the-box solutions at a time when the world and the country are impacted by the global economic crisis.

Delivering the inaugural address at a function organised to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) here on Friday, Mr. Kalam emphasised the need to develop new product ideas and processes, which can be created, among others, by indigenous talents in collaboration and competition with the world's best contributors.

He said that SEZs can contribute in unique ways to the development profile both in specific product development in our core areas, innovations in technologies and human resource development besides contributing to infrastructure growth and welfare of local communities.

In this context, Mr. Kalam put forward five suggestions before the CSEZ, topped with tripling the industrial production of the State in the next five years and better connectivity with academic institutions for research, collaboration in product development and feedback to academic institutions for updating curriculum.

Developing export-oriented green industries, skill development of the youth towards industrialisation and capacity building, and creating an industrial eco-system targeting the global market that will enhance the per capita income of the State made up the rest of the suggestions to the CSEZ for accelerating industrial growth.

Mr. Kalam foresaw the possibilities of creating new markets by leveraging rural potential and employment, which may lead to interesting possibilities of public-private-citizen partnerships and international partnerships.

He said that the Indian economy has to be built on its five core strengths to put the growth around 10 per cent per annum, which, he said is needed to achieve a developed India envisioned by him by 2020. Mr. Kalam listed out the liberalisation process in India that has its checks and balances consistent with the unique social requirements of the country; the conservative banking system that helped ward off a crisis; the Indian psyche rooted in savings and living within one's means; and the purchasing power of the 400 million-strong middle class that lends stability to the economy; among the core strengths of the country.

Delving on innovation, Mr. Kalam said the better the innovation, better would be the knowledge-building and wealth-generation capacity that would lead to economic prosperity of the State and the nation.

He drew a link between innovation and competitiveness basing his theory on the country's 64th rank in the global innovation index report and 59th rank in the global competitiveness index (GCI) for 2012-13.

Mr. Kalam batted for sustainable competitiveness, which reflects the search for a development model that would balance economic prosperity, environmental stewardship, and social sustainability.

Book 2 Title: Scrapped

Soon it will be 2014. Hard to believe, isn't it. We're not big New Year Eve partiers, Mike and I. We usually sit at home and ring in the new year with two sleeping boys and a glass of champagne in front of the TV. But this year, Sheila's having a New Year's Eve Crop, which should be a lot of fun. Mike and the boys have their own plans and the Cumberland Scrapbook Club will be cropping until midnight. This is part of Sheila's sneaky effort to keep Vera as busy as possible. We're all worried about her. The divorce has been rough. Not only that, but she's having to let go of her house because she just can' afford it. She's staying with her mom, Beatrice, while the apartment above her dance studio is prepared for her to move in. A young dancer has moved to town and opened another dance studio, which is seriously undercutting Vera's business. Emily McGlashen is a brazen woman, who has pretty much come right out and said she wants to put Vera's studio out of business.  Imagine. And Vera has taken it all very personally. So, she's a hot mess right now.

Let's hope that the New Year's Eve Crop will help keep her mind off everything. Sheila's going to have new products to show off an of course, there will be a lot of good food and drink. We'll each bring something, of course. I've decided to bring my breakfast pie, which was a big hit with my family a few days ago. Here's the recipe:

1 12- ounce carton cottage cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar
1 3-ounce package cream cheese
2 eggs
1 cup bisquick
¼ cup green onions
2 eggs
¼ cup milk
1 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted
Combine the first four ingredients, set aside
Combine mix and onion in small bowl.
Combine 2 eggs and milk. Pour into mix.
Stir until moistened,
Spoon ½ dough mix into greased pie plate.
Spoon on cheese mixture.
Top with remaining batter.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake 375 degrees, 30-35 minutes or until inserted knife comes out clean.
